The existing building on the site was a dilapidated former NHS doctors’ surgery that had been unused for years. The building held a prominent position on the street and was in the heart of a residential area. This made it perfect for a new nursery that would serve the local community. We worked closely with the client team to look at options to extend and renovate the building to create the new spaces needed to make this function as a nursery.
We introduced two extensions either side of a new entrance. The new entrance is bright and inviting and leads to a double height reception area. The building now has a clear entry point, and the internal spaces flow seamlessly from the reception area into the outdoor play spaces. Pops of colour help to further accentuate the use of the building and it is now a much-used building in the local area.
